With the Arizona Coyotes sitting third last in the entire NHL, the team will be looking to sell off pieces before the Mar. 2 trade deadline. General manager Don Maloney and majority owner Andrew Barroway are calling the situation a reset. According to TSNs Pierre LeBrun, pending free agents Antoine Vermette, Martin Erat, Zbynek Michalek and David Moss are the key pieces available, with the interest in Vermette already well apparent since before the All-Star break. Defenceman Keith Yandle could also be a trade asset as there have been plenty of inquiries, but Maloney would rather keep the 28-year-old as part of the rebuilding core. The team hopes to acquire young assets in these deals while further bolstering their lineup with the upcoming draft and in free agency. Avalanche of Deals? The Colorado Avalanche have been looking to acquire a two-way defenceman and now with Eric Johnson out three to eight weeks with a knee injury, that search should only intensify. According to Terry Frei of the Denver Post, the Avalanche are working to make a deal using forward Ryan OReilly as bait. OReillys name has surfaced in rumours all year and that is unlikely to slow down as the deadline approaches. Frei also mentions that with the recent play of goaltender Calvin Pickard, the team could start listening to offers on Semyon Varlamov, though at this point it is unlikely. Murky Waters The San Jose Sharks currently sit second in the tight Pacific Division but could also be on the outside looking in if the team does do not improve their play. It is unclear whether or not the Sharks want to add to the team or sell off some pieces writes Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea.com. San Jose has a number of pending unrestricted free agents such as James Sheppard, Tyler Kennedy, Andrew Desjardins and Antti Niemi who could be attractive pieces on the trade market. General Manager Doug Wilson has stated that he wont trade a young prospect or high draft pick for a veteran rental while attempting to restructure their lineup. Grant Dayton Braves Jersey .
